The Messenger

We got hit with a curve ball this Fall. Not just talking the weather, but we’re taking 2 steps forward over the last year, and now had to take 2 steps back by parting ways with our drummer, Duarte. It was a mutual decision, but regardless, it’s hard to lose a member of the family in that way. As it stands, it is the songwriting abilities of Nick Londono, Martin Matuszczak, and Jawn Taboika to bring about what we have called The Electric Chairmen. Stay tuned for an end of 2010 EP from that project. The Messenger is also working with two long-term collaborators worlds apart: Kay Pee from Philadelphia and Zuluflow from Australia. There is a lot of material waiting to come out.

There’s sample music on the site; the previous album No Soliciting is available worldwide on iTunes and all across Canada through HMV. We’ve got plans to hit Eastern Canada by the end of 2010, and no place is safe from the new grooves!

With a tentative scheduling of the Eastern United States, The Messenger and his band are always looking for ways to grow and stretch what hip hop music is in the 21st Century.

Influenced by The Roots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blackalicious, Sly and the Family Stone and Common to name a few urban artists, the span of the music is continuously evolving into “sophisticated urban,” with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Zion I.

So, without further ado, welcome to the new revamped home of The Messenger and the rest of the 1812 family. We’re always under construction, isn’t all music constantly being upgraded? Like we always say, nothing is ever finished, it’s just abandoned.

Always Love,

Jawn
